The North West Kent Family History Society was formed in 1978 with the object of encouraging and aiding the study of family history and genealogy in South East London and North West Kent.

We currently have around 1,500 members, whose interests cover the whole of Great Britain and beyond.

Amongst its many advantages membership offers meetings at each of our three venues; a quarterly journal, and a free library with the Society's collection of books and other reference material.

The Society publishes a range of CD-Roms and booklets derived from our project work. These include transcripts & images of parish & cemetery registers, census returns and monumental inscriptions. We also make donations to record offices to help with the preservation and publication of their records.

Other Services to members include house groups, a courier service for certificates and wills; searches of our indexes; occasional coach trips; a surname enquiries service; members' interests; overseas and out-of-area co-ordinators etc.

The website also contains information of interest to non-members, such as surnames being researched, events where you can browse our bookstall, and photographs of local churches.
