The services listed below are available to both members and non-members.
The Society maintains a database of surnames being researched by members and can check this list for both members and non-members. Enquiries should be made by email to our co-ordinator Please limit your requests to one or two surnames, and note that Lynn cannot undertake to conduct research outside this database - all she can provide is contact information for the member who has registered as researching that surname.
Much of north west Kent area has been indexed by the Society, and seven index volumes are available for sale (see the Publications page). There are a number of parishes to the east of this area that have been transcribed but not published, these are:

The number of entries covered by these indexes is about 14,000, and a map showing these can be seen on the Census Indexing Coverage page. These indexes can be searched for particular entries, for a charge of £2.00 per enquiry payable in advance, plus A4 SAE. Postal requests only please, to Mrs Linda Meaden, 7 Middle Lane, Seal, Sevenoaks, Kent TN15 0BB. Please make cheques payable to NWKFHS and in sterling only.
Until now the Society hasn't been able to undertake research for members or non-members, except in a very limited way. As of now (September 10) this remains the case, but there are detailed plans being formulated to implement a fuller research service. This will be run by a Research Co-ordinator and based at the Society Library. Hopefully it will be in place by New Year 2011.
There are also various independent researchers who work in the west Kent area, some of whom advertise in the Society journal or on the internet.
