Other Services for Members

House Group Meetings

In addition to the monthly Branch Meetings, there are also House Group Meetings, where members meet together in small groups in their own homes to help each other with family history problems, undertake project work and make new friends. A few groups concentrate on projects requiring experienced research. Any member can apply to join a House Group, but numbers are necessarily limited.

Index of Inhabitants of North West Kent

The Society maintains an index of inhabitants of North West Kent. The index is comprised of names and events from a number of sources covering the period approximately 16th-20th centrury. It can be searched for specific surnames. This is a postal service for members only. No charge is made but donations are welcome.

Postal requests only please, SAE (or two IRC's from overseas), to
Mrs Linda Meaden, 7 Middle Lane, Seal, Sevenoaks, Kent TN15 0BB.

Out-of-Area Co-ordinator

Members living in the UK but unable to attend meetings because of distance or disability may contact the Out of Area Coordinator for help with their research. This service is co-ordinated by Stella Baggaley, who can consult the Society's library on your behalf and is prepared to look up a specific item in local records. However please remember this is not a professional research service.

Please give information clearly - a brief 'tree' is often easier to grasp than a long rambling letter.

Co-ordinator: Stella Baggaley, Saddlers House, High St., Farningham DA4 0DT.

Overseas Co-ordinator

The Overseas Co-ordination service is run by one of our 'House Groups' and they answer general queries on local family history topics which our overseas members cannot answer for themselves from their local sources. It is not a research service but information can be drawn from the Society library, local libraries and record offices and the Group's own reference sources. If you have a problem with your research and they cannot help then they know and can consult with some of our more experienced members who may have the answer.
