- People who know the area where you live or where your ancestors lived i.e. join a family history society.
- People who know a local area like a Local History Society.
- People who study trades and occupations i.e. Brickmakers – The Brickworks Museum at Swanwick near Southampton.
- People or books that have specialist knowledge especially about the social conditions of the time i.e.'London Labour, London Poor' by Henry Mayhew or Charles Booth's Notebooks, 'The Streets of London' social history of the late 19th century.
- History of the period you are researching and discovering what was happening locally and nationally.
- Join NWKFHS and come to a Workshop or discussion group on Zoom
