Workshops

The Society runs workshops and a variety of discussion groups to help members with their research, covering various subjects and topics. We provide both face-to-face library groups as well as Zoom groups. The yearly programme of all the groups is published and available on the website calendar of events as well as in the quarterly journal. Up to date information is provided in the twice monthly Enews (email newsletter) as well as in the Dartford and Sevenoaks branch newsletters.

Library Workshops and Discussion Groups

At present, the library holds a monthly General Family History and DNA Discussion Group, a quarterly Writing Group and a quarterly Special Interest Group – Scottish Research. Numbers for these groups are limited to 10 members per group due to limitations of space and also to enable all participants to ask questions, share knowledge and engage with other members, therefore booking is essential.

Please use the contact form at the bottom of our Home page to message the Workshop Coordinator and reserve a place. You must include the event name, title and date along with your name and membership number.

All library groups are held on a Wednesday from 10.30 – 12.30 at the Society library and Resource Centre, 80 Summerhouse Drive, Joydens Wood, Bexley, Kent DA5 2EE. Please arrive any time after the library opens at 10am so groups can start promptly.

Zoom Workshops and Discussion Groups

Booking is no longer required for individual Zoom Workshops and Discussion Groups.

A Zoom register is now held to cover all attendances to any of the zoom groups. Any society member who would like to be added to the register can use the contact form at the bottom of our Home page to message the Workshop Coordinator. Please include your name, email address and membership number in the message. You only need to register once.

Once a month, the Zoom links for the various groups will be sent to those members on the register. Members who have registered can then attend as many of the Zoom groups as they wish with no need to make a specific booking for each one.

They do include a monthly DNA Group, General Family History Group, along with a workshop each month and a quarterly SIG Group.

The Zoom sessions take place at various times. Please log in 15 minutes before the start time.

Society membership is required for attendance to both the library and Zoom groups.
